Girls are taking over the Boogie Bahn and we need recruits to ride the wave! Women Learn to Surf is a week-long event at our parks where girls participate in surfing lessons given by national and world champion women surfers. Each of our Schlitterbahn waterparks in Texas will be welcoming women of all ages on these dates:
Monday, June 10: Schlitterbahn South Padre Island
Tuesday, June 11: Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi
Wednesday, June 12: Schlitterbahn Galveston Island
Friday, June 14: Schlitterbahn New Braunfels
Women Learn to Surf lessons will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This year will be the third annual Women Learn to Surf week at Schlitterbahn, and there are many reasons why girls should consider taking a lesson at one of our parks.
No Boys Allowed
Surfing is traditionally a male-dominated sport. Not only do we see this on the beach, we see this at Schlitterbahn. Most of the time, you will see the boys riding the Boogie Bahn instead of the girls. We created Women Learn to Surf Week to encourage girls to take a turn surfing on the Boogie Bahn. There is no reason to be intimidated by the wave – in fact, many champions are women! Women Learn to Surf gives women and girls a jumpstart on the wave and tips for the next time they come back for more.
Boogie Bahn History
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels is home to the first-ever inland surfing ride, the Boogie Bahn. This kind of ride is seen all over the world in various waterparks and cruise ships. In 1991, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels first introduced the wave producing technology to the world. People have become surfing pros just by practicing on the Boogie Bahn. Now it’s the ladies’ turn to catch a wave!
