Every Saturday of the 2019 Rock the Bahn festival, the kids of the New Braunfels School of Rock opened for every headlining act. This talented bunch played a heavy playlist full of classic rock hits from iconic bands like The Rolling Stones, Rage Against the Machine, Guns N’ Roses and Queen.
School of Rock is known all across the country for teaching people of all ages to play music like a rockstar. With franchise locations around the United States, they lead in performance-based music education and encourage students to play gigs at their local venues. They teach guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals to toddlers, kids, teens and adults.
Schlitterbahn was honored to give these young rockstars a huge stage to rock out on for several summer weekends. One of our favorite songs they cover is Walk Like an Egyptian by The Bangles. Check out their performance at Rock the Bahn in the video below:
Shannon Canada started our local School of Rock franchise with the intention of bringing musical opportunities to kids in the New Braunfels. Her goal was to bring kids together who enjoy music – kind of like group sports, but with music!
“They are learning how to be a part of a band,” said Canada. “Not only are they learning how to play individually, but they’re learning their gear, learning their responsibilities, and their part because the other kids are depending on them.”
