In hopes of spreading holiday cheer, representatives from Schlitterbahn Waterparks participated in different events with one unifying mission: to give back to the community and spread #bahnlove.
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi participated in the annual Share Your Christmas food and money drive for the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, which was promoted through an all day broadcast at the KIII-TV studios, an ABC affiliate for the Corpus Christi area. The Corpus Christi team collected money for two weeks prior to the money drive and were able to donate $650 the day of the fundraiser. The team also took part in the Toys for Tots Toy Drive by hosting a Golf Tournament that successfully collected close to 300 toys to donate this holiday season. The local community had been encouraged to donate a toy when guests visit the park’s Veranda Restaurant and all toys will be donated days prior to the holidays.
Schlitterbahn South Padre Island surprised a group of pre-kindergarten students from Flores Elementary (of LaJoya Independent School District near McAllen, TX) with tickets to the South Padre Island Indoor Waterpark for each student and teacher. The class had donated to the Share Your Christmas food drive that Schlitterbahn participated in and a Schlitterbahn representative stopped by the school to thank the children and spread some Bahn holiday cheer.
Schlitterbahn Galveston Island participated in an annual food drive on Monday, December 14 where the team distributed food packs to clients that registered as part of the Share Your Holiday event promoted by Channel 13, an ABC affiliate from Houston. Members of the Galveston team distributed 380, 30 pound food packs in the parking lot of the Galveston County Food Bank, equaling a total of 11,400 pounds of food. According to Feeding America, this will provide enough food for 9,500 meals.
“The team work and enthusiasm was evident and made for a great effort. The Schlitterbahn team’s skill in customer service was reflected again and again in the groups efforts helping clients,” said Jeff Gordon, Business Operations Manager of the Galveston County Food Bank. “Because of this outstanding support, the Food Banks mission of providing access to nutritional food to the economically disadvantaged in Galveston County is made possible.”
Schlitterbahn Galveston Island will also be providing two tickets for its indoor season to each client registered, making a donation of 800 tickets total.
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels had members of it’s team visit the Hays County Food Bank in San Marcos, Texas to help with the bank’s food distributions and organize food donations received over the holiday season. The team split up to help distribute food to clients and to help stock shelves, sort through the donations and put together orders for agencies that would be distributing food the following day (totaling in over 400+ pounds of food!)
Last but certainly not least, the Schlitterbahn New Braunfels team took Schatze to the Rolling Oaks Mall in San Antonio to share the love with 30 Christmas gift bags that contained 2 tickets to the New Braunfels park for our 2016 season. You can see Schatze and his pack in action in this video.
