“Great Day with just me and my daughter”

Decided to spend a few days in Galveston before the end of summer and went to Schlitterbahn. We had a great time, just the two of us, but I have some tips. BRING WATER SHOES (not sexy I know) The ground got really hot in some places and we ended up wearing our flip flops everywhere and hiding them right before we went on the rides, then we had to circle back after we finished the ride. Spring for a LOCKER, some of the best money spent, but use the lockers at the very back as the lockers in the front get crowded and you have to wait to get in them. We did not bring in any coolers (which I know you can) so the food we had was good and the one beer I had was really cold, which was nice since it was so hot. GET THERE AS EARLY AS YOU CAN. The park did not start getting crowded unitl around noon.

“Very cool place, lots of great slides and rides!”

We went here in the middle of the week in July. It wasn't super crowded. My 2.5 yr old couldn't do everything of course but man I can't wait until he can. They have lots of awesome rides and a couple great lazy rivers. The water was clean, which I liked. Good food, beer and concessions as well. Admission prices were not too crazy. We really enjoyed the park and will go again. It was a lot different than the original one in New Braunfels but not in a bad way, at all. They are both great water parks.

“Lived here 33 years. Here’s the lowdown”

I've lived in New Braunfels for 33 years. Here is my take on Schlitterbahn. It's a fun place for families or singles. It is in two sections so if you get tired of one you can go to another via shuttle. Lots and lots of different rides ranging from just floating to wild ones. There are sections in both parks for young children with lounge chairs for moms and dads. This is my one big tip: go the first week in June or wait until late August. During the height of the season lines can be long and it's very hot here. Wear water shoes as you'll be doing the hot asphalt dance if you don't have any, bring sunblock, etc. They let coolers in so park somewhere where all family members can meet. It's been my experience that theft is minimal and for our family we have never had a problem. Hope this helps and have fun!
