As our last construction diary indicated, it’s a long way up to the top of Verrückt. Once you get to the top, you’re going to need a spot to pause, take in the view, and consider whether going down the world’s tallest waterslide is really on your “must do” list.
Hence, the platform. The platform is a 35,500 pound steel structure that had to be lifted into place by a crane. Originally scheduled for a Wednesday, we had to cancel the lift because of high winds. So needless to say, the lift, when it finally took place early on Friday, September 20th, had us all on pins and needles. Notice the elegant pirouette…
The crane operator and the team got it bolted down in no time. Gotta love it when a plan comes together perfectly.
A few days later it was time for another topper. We’ll be making sure there is plenty of shade at the top of Verrückt.
The big moment – when the final piece of fiberglass slide goes into place – is our next milestone. Then we’ll know just how tall this water slide is and how much taller we are than anyone in the world.
