Construction continues as the holiday’s clear.  Schitterbahn Corpus Christi continues to take shape. Recently, with the help of a remote control helicopter and a small plane, we were given a great view of the entire project from the air!

Just off of South Padre Island Drive, the entrance to the new park can be seen taking shape at the corners of Compass Street and Commodores Drive on North Padre Island. We can see the entry building just above a pond on one end and the tidal wave river being completed on the far end.

The Tidal Wave River has been fully poured in concrete except for a small section to allow access into the middle of the river for the erecting of a signature ride in the park, the Shoot the Chute. We can also see the south entry building underway at the top of the river beach.

Hot Tub - December Aerial

The existing club pool has been transformed into a heated swim up bar and pool with tropical cabanas surrounding the area. The pool, when completed, will feature a zero entry beach and over 20 in-water bar stools. This pool is only a few hundred feet from the main entrance to the park and will be a welcome spot for guests looking to cool off  and grab a drink.

Entry Building - Go Pro - Helicopter

The existing entry building can be seen above via a helicopter mounted Go-Pro. With the steel skeleton of the building in place, carpenters are working diligently to frame in the walls and layout the floor plan for the four story facility that will feature  dining, event space, resort services, a locals area, bars, and beautiful views of the island.

Clearly the new entrance building will be much more than ticket booths and retail for guests entering the park. It will be a year round destination for both locals and tourists seeking to enjoy the beauty and features of North Padre Island.

As construction progress continues, look forward to the view from the air to change dramatically as rivers take shape, rides are installed, and Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi comes to life.
